Captive Audience

Tuesday, July 6th, 2004

According to SiteMeter, thebigthink last month had over 700 visitors! Thanks to everyone for coming here to see what I have to say. I hope you don’t regret the few minutes you spend here. I’m looking forward to the time when I can get my pageviews up above 1000/month. Hmm… I could always get myself slashdotted or instapundit…ed. I don’t think Giles’ server (or bandwidth bill) would appreciate it, though.

Bad Guy

Nothing says “Evil Dictator” like a gold-plated AK-47. Not only was Saddam Hussein a tyrannical, bloodthirsty despot, but he also did a good impersonation of a Bond villain.

Moving Day

Tuesday, July 6th, 2004

Erin and I spent the better part of tonight at one of my favorite hang-outs: Barnes and Noble. Wasn’t as good as “new magazine tuesday”, but it wasn’t bad.
Had a weird thing happen the other day. We noticed that our next door neighbors’ yard had gotten really, really long (about 2′ in places). Erin went over there the other day and discovered that their house is EMPTY. They just picked up and moved in the middle of the night. Or day. Or sometime when nobody saw them. Their house isn’t on the market (as far as we know), and isn’t for rent… it looks suspiciously like they just bailed on their 2 year old mortgage. I can’t say I’m sorry to see this unfriendly family go. It’s just weird to have neighbors one day and then have none the next; not even the semi-closure of seeing a moving van. Spooky.
So it looks like I’ll be mowing their lawn for a while (very, very short) until something happens. Until then, anyone want to buy a nearly new house with good neighbors?
